Barcelona in 48 hours | El Clasico Edition

W Barcelona

Barcelona is one of those European cities you cannot get enough from. It's my third time here and will come back for sure. From the architecture, the cuisine, to the nice people and lifestyle, this city is always on the go and has something for everyone. From almost every European airport you can find cheap flight tickets to Barcelona. We flew from Geneva with EasyJet. The flight duration between the two cities is only 1:15 hours. Once we arrived at the airport, we took a bus (AEROBÚS) to the city centre, which costs 5,90 euro. The ride to Pl. Catalunya is about 35 minutes. I suggest taking this bus, instead of a taxi, as it is much cheaper and quite comfortable to reach most of the central spots in the city. It stops also at Pl. España, Gran Via-Urgell, Pl. Universitat and runs every day of the year with departures every 5 minutes. Taxi to the city centre costs about 25-30 euro with a minimum cost if taken from the airport to any spot - 20 euro.

Grand Hotel Central

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Central, which as the name suggests is in the very centre of the city, close to the Old Town and offers a super cool rooftop bar and infinity pool with incredible views over Barcelona. The swimming pool is open all year round with a constant temperature of 20°. Great breakfast choice, location and service. This time the reason we went to Barcelona was El Clasico. As the tickets for this match are almost impossible to find on the official website, if you are interested in the game, I suggest you look at VIAGOGO(.com). The prices are higher as people resell their tickets there. Please, keep in mind that there is also website charge on top, but it guarantees you to be at the stadium and support your team. The game this year was already postponed once, because of manifestations and there were also ongoing manifestations on the date we watched the game, but this time it happened. Unfortunately, the match ended 0:0. I've been also to El Clasico in Madrid, at the Santiago Bernabeu, but my team (Real Madrid) lost 0:4. I guess I don't have luck when going to a football game. Anyway, the spirit at El Clasico is out of this world and I recommend you to go if you are a fan of any of the two teams. / Stories from the game in my Instagram Highlights from Barcelona: www.instagram.com/izabel.philippa /

Casa Vicens

The day of the game we went to visit the first house of Gaudí in Barcelona - Casa Vicens. After that, we walked up to Park Güell, which is also Gaudí's work. Once in Barcelona, you should not skip any of his artwork. About Park Güell, I suggest you buy your tickets online as you don't have to queue for ages. The entrance ticket costs 10 euro for adults and you can stay as long as you want, but once you are out you cannot enter again. This time there was a reconstruction in the park at one of the most beautiful spots, but the visit is still more than worth.

Don't skip also the rest of Gaudí's houses - Güell Palace, Casa Batlló, Casa Milà, Gaudí House Museum and of course the spectacular cathedral - La Sagrada Familia.

Park Güell

48 hours are not enough for Barcelona, especially if you want to enjoy the atmosphere, the cuisine and explore all the sightseeing. But must are La Rambla and Gothic Quarter walk. Also, visit La Barceloneta for a beach walk and if you are a seafood lover. Go to Montjuic as well - it's a hill with a cable car and incredible views. Eat some tapas and do an afternoon siesta... No, wait! Let the siesta for when you are back home - Barcelona is too great to waste your time sleeping.
